Our Home hosted an International Day social gathering and luncheon on May 15 to honor our Residents and their caregivers and to celebrate all those who live, work, and volunteer here.
Planned by our Activities Department, the afternoon featured a runway event showcasing global diversity through traditional attire worn by staff and volunteers. An international potluck—with traditional family recipes, regional delicacies, and global desserts brought in by staff and Little Sisters and arranged by the kitchen—offered dishes from Asia, the Middle East, and parts of Africa and South America, as well as the Philippines further highlighting our Home’s diverse heritage and shared unity.
“We may not have left the building, but through the incredible cultural dishes and traditional attire shared today,” said Francine Whitley our activities director, “we traveled the world! Thank you to our team for bringing such rich, global diversity and unity right to our Residents’ doorstep.
“Around the world, traditions take many beautiful forms, but the language of joy, community, and good food is universal,” said Mother Patricia Mary, “despite our different backgrounds, we are one global family.”
