Eclipse Wonder: As the Moon Covers the Sun at Little Sisters of the Poor!
On April 8, we joined millions across North America in marveling at a rare total eclipse that swept across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
For those along the path of totality, the Moon’s shadow completely covered the Sun, plunging viewers into total darkness. Here at our Home in DC, while we did not witness the total phase, we observed a partial solar eclipse.
Annie Moore, an associate of the Association Jeanne Jugan, generously shared her specialized eclipse glasses with everyone interested in safely catching a glimpse of this awe-inspiring phenomenon. Several people joined her on the patio, using the solar-filtered glasses to watch as the moon covered a significant portion of the Sun. Daylight dimmed to dusk and then returned, offering us a spectacular and impressive celestial sight.
The next total solar eclipse that can be seen from the contiguous United States will be on Aug. 23, 2044!
Thank you, Annie, for helping us witness this fun and rare celestial event!
